This tour takes you to the most picturesque areas of the Kaliningrad region — the former northern part of East Prussia, Koenigsberg, the Curonian Spit and Lithuania.
1st day: Kaliningrad
Arrive Kaliningrad; coach transfer to Svetlogorsk (Rauschen) on the Baltic coast, overnight in Svetlogorsk.
2nd day: Amber coast
Morning coach sightseeing tour of Kaliningrad with a visit of to the Cathedral and Amber Museum. Lunch at a local restaurant. Back to Svetlogorsk via Jantarniy (Palmniken) amber mine. Overnight in Svetlogorsk.
3rd day: Chernjakhovsk (Insterburg) — Jasnaja Poljana (Trakenen) — Sovetsk (Tilsit).
The road leads through Gvardeisk (Tapiau) to Chernjakhovsk (Insterburg), where you will have a short excursion to see the town's old German architecture. A short stop in Majovka, the home of the Trakehner horse stud. A short stop in Gusev (Gumbinen) with its well-known elk statue and onto to Trakehner itself where you can see the entrance gate with its carved “Elchschaufel“ crest and the old manor house. We then drive via Neman and the ruined Teutonic castle to Sovetsk (Tilsit). Overnight in Sovetsk.
4th day: Klaipeda — Palanga — Klaipeda
Morning sightseeing tour of Sovetsk with a walking tour along the former Hohe strasse. We cross into Lithuania via the famous Queen Luise bridge and drive on to Shilute (Haideburg) where you visit the former Evangelical church.
We will visit the Palanga amber museum which contains more then 10, 000 exhibits, and drive to Klaipeda (Memel). Overnight in Klaipeda.
Through Joudkrante (Shwarzort) with famous “Hill of Witches», where fantastic carved wooden figures depicting characters from Lithuanian folktales stand and then on to Nida.
Overnight in Nida.
5th day: Klaipeda (Memel) — Nida
Morning sightseeingtour of Klaipeda. By ferry to the Curonian Spit and visit the Aquarium maritime museum.
6th day: Nida — Curonian Spit
In Nida we'll visit Thomas Mann's summer house and climb the dunes. Crossing back into Russia we'll stop off at the famous ornithological station in Rybachiy (Rositten), the Curonian Spit museum in Lesnoje (Sarkau). A short walking tour through Zelenogradsk (Kranz) and then back to Svetlogorsk.
Overnight in Svetlogorsk.
7th day:
Day at leisure in Svetlogorsk and evening drive back to Kaliningrad. We will visit the church of the Holy Family for an organ recital or a choral concert of Orthodox church music. Overnight in Svetlogorsk
8th day:
Depart Svetlogorsk.
